The Colorado Physical Activity and Nutrition Program (COPAN)

The Colorado Physical Activity and Nutrition (COPAN) Program is an initiative of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.  COPAN is charged with implementing the Colorado Physical Activity and Nutrition State Plan 2010, which promotes healthy eating and physical activity as a means of preventing and reducing overweight, obesity, and related chronic diseases.

COPAN coordinates its activities through the Colorado Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition, a group of more than 450 public and private partners that work together to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate statewide interventions.  Through the coalition, individuals and organizations with an interest in improving Coloradans’ dietary habits and increasing their physical activity work together by participating on one or more of the coalition’s 10 task forces.
